Lindale Mall is proud to be a community partner. We strive to meet community challenges through a combination of employee volunteerism, financial support, in-kind donations and partnerships with non-profit organizations which have missions consistent with our vision and values.
Community Partnerships
School Cents
School Cents, developed by Lindale
Mall, is intended to assist area schools with funding for their
programs in need. During the School Cents program, fifteen area High
Schools compete to accumulate points towards $25,000 in prize money
from Lindale Mall. Points are accumulated when customers turn in
receipts thereby "voting" for their favorite school. Every dollar
spent at Lindale Mall from October - December is worth 10 points for
your favorite school, with options to earn additional points on
specified weekends. Cash prizes are awarded at a Midway Ceremony in
November ($5,000) and the Final Awards Ceremony held in January
($20,000). School Cents is sponsored by The Gazette, KWWL and Mix
96.5.
The Arc of East Central Iowa
The Arc serves our community by providing advocacy and
services, which help people with developmental disabilities and their
families choose and realize their goals in life. They work to reduce
the incidence of developmental disabilities through education and
public awareness.
In 2001, Lindale Mall began a partnership with The Arc by hosting the
annual Buddy Walk, now known as Arc March, and building on that
relationship in 2003 by hosting and sponsoring The Arc's "Wrapping For
a Cause" Christmas gift-wrap.
For more information on The Arc of East Central Iowa please visit their website at www.arceci.org
Every March, National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is
celebrated around the country. Lindale Mall is host to The Arc of East
Central Iowa's Arc March on held annualy in March. This walk is
essential to raising public awareness and funds to increase
understanding and support of all people with developmental disabilities
in our community.
Making Wishes Come True
Every day at Lindale Mall shoppers are invited to make a wish and share
a wish by tossing coins into our fountain at center court.
Donations from the fountain at Lindale Mall go to The Make-A-Wish
Foundation who works to grant wishes of children with life-threatening
medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength,
and joy.
Through the Adopt-A-Wish program, representatives from Lindale Mall are
able to be a part of the wish granting process of children in our area.
To date, over $50,000 has been donated to Make-A-Wish.
Community Flu Clinics
Each fall, Lindale Mall works with the Visiting Nurses
Association of Linn County to hold flu clinics. These clinics typically
begin in early October and are open to high risk groups. Depending on
the years vaccine the clinics will be opened up the general public.
Information on upcoming flu clinics can be found in the events section of our website and also in The Cedar Rapids Gazzette.
Special Needs Trick-or-Treat
For nearly 20 years Lindale Mall has held Special Needs Trick-or-Treat
night. Children with disabilities or special needs and their families
are invited to join Lindale Mall for a fun and safe night inside.
Contribution Requests
Each year, Lindale Mall will contribute a preset amount of funds in the form of Gift Cards, merchandise and use of property to a diverse group of organizations. Hundreds of requests are anticipated each year. Donation recipients may include civil organizations' education programs; food banks; foundations; hospitals and healthcare organizations; youth programs; performing arts and museums and many more. Each request is reviewed carefully, however, not all requests can be granted.
